NeuroModulation Technique (NMT) in San Antonio
Looking Beyond Where the Symptom Shows Up
Sometimes the part of your body asking for attention isn’t necessarily the whole story. When symptoms linger despite other approaches, Dr. Dean Odmark may look at how the nervous system is communicating rather than focusing only on the uncomfortable area.
NeuroModulation Technique (NMT) is one of the brain-based methods he uses at Lifestyle Chiropractic for that purpose.
What Is NMT?
Dr. Leslie Feinberg developed NMT in 2002, and it is built around a series of structured pathways used to guide evaluation. Muscle Response Testing (MRT) plays a central role in navigating those pathways.
Dr. Odmark describes the technique as a way of looking for neurological interference in the body, particularly through the autonomic nervous system.
During your visit, you’ll generally lie comfortably on your stomach while he performs passive muscle testing. Different queries and areas are evaluated based on how the body responds.
Following What the Testing Shows
NMT doesn’t follow exactly the same sequence for every patient. Its broader system uses different pathways as frameworks, with the results of muscle testing helping determine where the session goes next.
At Lifestyle Chiropractic, Dr. Odmark uses specific spinal points when areas of dysfunction are identified. Patients commonly come to him with general fatigue, chronic health concerns, or persistent symptoms that haven’t fully responded to other forms of care.
How Does It Fit With Chiropractic?
NMT doesn’t replace the chiropractic techniques Dr. Odmark uses for joint and spinal concerns. Instead, it gives him another way to evaluate neurological communication when a problem seems to need a different perspective.
He has found that, for some patients, incorporating NMT may also reduce how frequently chiropractic adjustments are needed.
Training with Dr. Feinberg
Dr. Odmark trained in NMT with Dr. Leslie Feinberg, the developer of the method, in Hermiston, Oregon. Dr. Feinberg is and continues to teach its structured approach to MRT and NMT pathways.
Dr. Odmark chose to add the technique after seeing its potential for concerns that seemed to persist or never completely respond to other treatment approaches.
Start with an Individual Evaluation
There’s no preset number of NMT sessions. Your examination and testing findings help Dr. Odmark determine what, if anything, he recommends next.
